My name is Holly Bogart and this is my my daughter is Kinsey Bogart. At the age of 7 months old, Kinsey was diagnosed with Atypical Hemolytic uremic Syndrome. Shortly after that Kinsey was placed on dialysis and that’s where the journey began.
Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS) is a disease that causes abnormal blood clots to form in small blood vessels in the kidneys.
Kinsey health issues started early beginning with the kidney failure. She has since developed severe Cardiomyopathy. This is making it where only a small percentage of her heart functions properly. Kinsey was listed on the kidney transplant list, then the heart/Kidney list and again on just the kidney transplant list. Other issues include: ITP, Calciphylaxis, Lichen Sclerosis, Autism, dental and hearing issues. Kinsey has undergone several surgeries in her 9 years, some of them being experimental.
We are always caring for Kinsey, making several trips to Gainesville at the UF Health Shands Hospitaleach month to see her many physicians. Kinsey continues to out live all statistics and has amazed doctors since birth. We were told several different times that we shouldn’t get our hopes up because the prognosis wasn’t good.
We chose to have hope and believe in God and he has performed miracle after miracle.
